LOS ANGELES, CA (April 12, 2023) – Today, TiNDLE announces that its popular chicken made from plants will become the featured chicken and primary plant-based meat option on menu at brand-new, all-vegan chicken shop Mother Plucker, which celebrates its grand opening this Saturday, April 15, and at Mr. Charlie’s. Having debuted only a year ago in the United States, TiNDLE is known for its ‘ridiculously good’ plant-based chicken and has been favored by chefs and culinary professionals around the world. Now, TiNDLE powers the main Mother Plucker menu and is featured in the signature juicy plant-based chicken sandwich and nostalgic nugget as part of the viral “Frowny Meal” at Mr. Charlie’s.
Mother Plucker x TiNDLE
Mother Plucker is the newest plant-based concept from Adam Weiss, an established leader in the food tech industry and the founder of Honeybee Burger, in addition to being an early investor in Cafe Gratitude’s expansion in LA. The concept is also backed by former NBA legend and wellness personality, John Salley, who joins the mission-driven team behind Mother Plucker after being a longtime advocate for plant-based eating.
Mother Plucker tapped the creative forces behind Mr. Charlie’s to support the design and development of its flagship location, located in the former Honeybee Mid City location. Mother Plucker features a completely vegan menu entirely focused on fast food chicken classics, such as tenders, wings, and sandwiches, paying tribute to some of America’s favorite chicken chains.
Mother Plucker is the first restaurant in the United States to launch TiNDLE’s pre-breaded tenders, which were designed for maximum convenience and flavor by the company’s R&D team. At grand opening, diners have the choice of TiNDLE tenders seasoned with the restaurant’s signature spice blends, including Sweet Heat, Not Buffalo, BBQ, Dah Bomb, Just Ranch, Avo Ranch, and Chipotle Ranch, next to a side of slaw or fries.
Adam Weiss, founder of Mother Plucker, shares, “Mother Plucker is another step on my journey to broaden the appeal of plant-based food. While the burger market is very well served, we recognized there was an opportunity in the second most popular QSR segment, chicken. Fried chicken sandwiches were always popular at Honeybee, but our association with TiNDLE will help Mother Pucker take this whole segment to the next level.”
This Saturday, April 15, Mother Plucker will celebrate its grand opening by giving away complimentary meals of its signature TiNDLE tender meals – along with fries and shakes – with visits from special guests. The grand opening event will take place from 11:11 am to 4:20 pm (or until supplies last).
Mr. Charlie’s x TiNDLE
TiNDLE and the team behind Mr. Charlie’s – helmed by partners Aaron Haxton, Charlie Kim, and Taylor McKinnon – share a mission to serve and provide access to delicious and enjoyable foods, while simultaneously transforming our food system to reduce our reliance on animal agriculture. With its iconic red and yellow exterior, Mr. Charlie’s opened in 2022 in Los Angeles and in early 2023 in San Francisco to wide and viral acclaim – even catching the eye of musical superstars. Today, the restaurant has become known for its one-of-a-kind take on the classic fast food joint, serving dishes all crafted with plant-based ingredients. A nod to some of America’s fast food favorites, Mr. Charlie’s now offers its two signature chicken dishes – the TiNDLE Chicken Sandwich and TiNDLE Chicken Nuggets – with TiNDLE as the featured plant-based chicken.
Outside of the kitchen, both Mr. Charlie’s and Mother Plucker are committed to creating a direct impact in the cities and neighborhoods where they operate. In Los Angeles, the two restaurants have partnered with the Dream Center, which provides opportunities for people to transform their lives, particularly those affected by homelessness, hunger, or transitioning out of incarceration. The majority of the employees at Mr. Charlie’s Los Angeles are current or former participants of the Dream Center. In San Francisco, Mr. Charlie’s has also partnered with local organization Farming Hope – a nonprofit focused on garden-to-table job training programs for those who are overcoming obstacles such as former incarceration or homelessness.
TiNDLE Continues to Make a Splash in LA
TiNDLE continues to expand to meet consumers where they are – growing its presence to include both foodservice and retail in international markets and the US throughout 2023. In Los Angeles specifically, TiNDLE remains a favorite of popular eateries. Starting this month, TiNDLE is teaming up with PlantX – the one-stop shop for plant-based products – to transform their pop-up market in Venice Beach location for three months into a TiNDLE destination, redesigning the store facade into a custom mural painted by local artist Jules Muck. Following TiNDLE’s successful rollout in Germany’s largest grocery chain earlier this year, the brand will preview its newest retail products for a limited time at the pop-up retailer, before expanding into grocery stores later this year. Additionally, the PlantX pop-up will feature TiNDLE’s new retail items in a variety of prepared dishes including a Chicken Parm Sandwich, Fried Chicken Sandwich, Chicken & Waffles, Buffalo Chicken Wrap, and Sticky Wings.
Honoring Los Angeles’ storied roots as the birthplace of the burger, TiNDLE is also now available at Southern California’s plant-based burger group, Nice Burger, as the chicken patty in its signature chicken sandwiches and at the famed Melrose diner in the original Johnny Rockets space, NoMoo, as The Hot Chick’n sandwich and Crispy Chick’n Caesar. Additionally, local favorites such as Native Foods, one of the original vegan fast casual restaurants, and food truck Compton Vegan offer TiNDLE on their menus.
“Los Angeles is home to one of the most vibrant restaurant scenes in the world – and a top destination for plant-based cuisine for a long time,” says Andre Menezes, CEO and Co-Founder of TiNDLE. “We are amazed by the partnership of mission-driven brands like Mother Plucker and Mr. Charlie’s, amongst others, who share our values in creating a more sustainable world and are excited to introduce delicious plant-based meals using TiNDLE to connect with their communities.”
Designed for endless culinary applications – while prioritizing mouthwatering taste and maximum convenience – TiNDLE can be found in more than 1,500 restaurants globally and is a favorite of recognized chefs and culinary personalities including Chef Chad Rosenthal, who offers curated meal kits featuring TiNDLE through his Motel Fried Chicken storefront on Goldbelly. TiNDLE is available in foodservice distribution through DOT Foods and carried by leading distributors including Sysco Foods and USF. Interested chefs and operators looking to add TiNDLE to their menu can contact their local distributor or reach out directly to [email protected] for details and samples.
TiNDLE is the leading plant-based chicken – offering the distinct aroma, taste, and texture of chicken and made with non-GMO ingredients. TiNDLE is the first product by Next Gen Foods, a Singapore-founded food tech company that is developing and commercializing innovative and sustainable foods to make saving the planet easy, enjoyable, and delicious.
